According to their web site, they are based in Cornwall and California, and they claim to have developed a 7.1L stroker kit for the V12. If not pie in the sky, then how could this have not been mentioned before? Are these people known to some on here?

I am down in Devon and have never heard of them. Interesting that no address is quoted on their website and the telephone number is a London one. Some questions I think!

Just had a quick look at their prices.

A remap for your V8 Vantage? That will be $2,195, please. Woah (no thanks).

Website says 7.1l, inlet valley cover says 6.6...

V12 Vantage - offering brembo iron discs "OEM replacement upgrade" for £7k.

V12 Vantage - offering "Removing the heavy OEM wheels and replacing them with some lightweight forged alloys" for £8k. Hmm, and there was me thinking the V12 had forged aluminium wheels already.

I like this on the /about page "Factory Wheel Horespower"

Anyone know "Mr Tom F"??? And his special spelling of monstrous? I don't think real people use the phrase "more and more" twice in one sentence...

"The V12 stroker motor upgrade for the Aston Martin is incredible, there is no other way to describe it. The stock motor did not really have any trouble moving my DB9, but now the displacement has been increased this thing now effortlessly pulls to redline in every gear. The motor also feels a lot stronger than before with the new uprated connecting rods, pistons and crank. The DB9 can still be driven casually but when you start to open it up, it just wants to be thrashed so it can intake more and more cool air to feed the monsterous V12 and in return provide you with more and more power.

Mr Tom F
Aston Martin DB9 Coupe V12 - Stroker Engine Upgrade"

Happy to be proven wrong and to see that these guys have managed to build a 7.1 AML V12 for £50k supplied and fitted retail...

Never heard of them but apparently every Ferrari (F50, F40 etc) needs bigger brakes and OEM wheels are heavy and their alloy forged ones they supply are a light lighter! And i hate it when retailers show generic pictures of their items.

Only one way to find out... I have emailed the firm and asked them to comment...... Will post if I get an answer - though I have invited them to post direct! whistle

Some of it (!) does seem a little silly.

Contact page says "London" but the domain named is registered here...

The Old Chapel
St Ives
Cornwall

United Kingdom

Which I imagine (if my link works)... is here

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.180019,-5.44362,...

And there is no company registered in the UK as Superlative Autosport that I can see.

Apart from that, I wonder if they'd do a group buy?

Good work Inspector.

The next steps are Electoral Roll, and Land Registry.

Could it be a website creator, car enthusiast, schoolboy?

The Old Chapel is being advertised as a holiday home.

Always good to see a spotless working environment, but I cannot see any V12 engines being assembled, or people with spanners in the interior photographs. - smile

Looking closely at the old Volvo in front of the chapel it appears that they do car sales as well.

Well, I promised to post something if I got a reply and this is what they have to say:

Thanks for your email and Happy New Year. Unfortunately, we tend to stay off the forums, too busy with other things i'm afraid.

Fortunately though, yes we do have a 7.1L stroker engine package for the V12 Aston Martin application. As some have noted on the forum link you provided there is a 6.6L badge on one of the images. We originally produced a 6.6L as part of the R&D on the 6.0L engine platform so this was an old image accidentally recycled by the web guys.

We quote just shy of 700HP on the 7.1L V12 naturally aspirated stroker upgrade package to our customers. As we have completed a vast amount of development on the AM V12, we feel there is far much more to lose than gain by posting IP on the specific engine data on our 7.1L, as interested parties are typically more concerned about the way the car drives and the cost, rather than the bore/stroke/compression ratio etc, etc. Not to be pompous, but releasing such data only encourages others to try to copy. If this were to happen, we'd much prefer to let the competition take the time to discover what works and what doesn't - just like we had to. However with that said we are actually going to be producing a lot more content for media/press release on the V12 stroker over the next few months, this will include a short documentary showing the full process from removal of the powerplant, engine tear down, machining, exhaust fabrication, rebuild, installation, rolling road tuning, real world tuning, etc, etc and also some track time madness - i'll be sure to send you the YouTube link when it's live.

Inline image 1

In regards to the company, the UK division is held under a different holding company name and the address in Cornwall was previously the offices for Superlative UK (the building is pretty large and has converted offices in the rear L section), our industrial building is located a few miles away and the Cornish B roads provide us with an excellent portfolio of testing tarmac. But for now we have mostly moved the development to California, primarily due to the fact that vehicles are more readily available to us across the pond so it is easier for us to obtain development cars. We still offer ECU tuning solutions throughout the UK through our MTS (Mobile Technician Service) as we have a handful of Motorsport Engineers that work for the UK division, they also venture throughout Europe from time to time tuning. We also have relationships with UK (and worldwide) performance garages that can provide us with the removal/installation services if required for some of our more involved upgrades, for example the AM 7.1L stroker engine package, it's relatively labor intensive and not a job for an inexperienced technician. Obviously the engines are still hand built by us, crate logistics of the engine core is simply arranged. If a customer can deliver the car to our Californian location we usually provide a courtesy engine removal and installation when purchasing the V12 stroker package, as we've done this in and out job countless times, it's a piece of cake for us.

Final note; the web guys did copy and paste some generic info regarding wheels/brakes across a number of chassis categories, but with that said the technologies at Brembo have improved considerably over the years; weight, sizes, materials, etc, so yes we can provide very worthwhile brake package upgrades for cars such as the F40/F50 and that goes the same for wheel options. We can definitely save clients rotational mass over the majority of OEM wheels, we work very closely with companies that specialise in very lightweight performance wheels.

If you would like to discuss the Aston Martin stroker engine package further please call us on (USA) +1 949 287 4927 or add us on Skype (Username: SuperlativeAutosport) and talk directly to a technician about any bespoke project requirements.

Best Regards,

The Sales Team

After going to all the trouble and expense of modifying your V12, to make it 7·1 litres and 700bhp, there could be a problem.

Whilst in the pub, telling (boring) everyone about your 7·1 litre 700bhp V12 engine, a man says, "Oh that is nothing. My Aston Martin V12 engine has 7312cc and 750 bhp."

After finishing his half pint the man leaves, and is seen driving away in his One-77. - smile

Or maybe ask them to speed up your boat too?

http://superlativemarine.com/about/

It's very impressive to see that one firm has folks who can take an AML V12 to 7.1 litres and have the expertise to work on McLaren, Mercedes, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche and Audi.

And upgrade boats as well.

Maybe they could invest a bit in a website that didn't look quite so cut and pasted?

I'd love to hear more about this 7.1 V12 stroker kit.

Since they don't mention increasing the bore one has to assume that they just increase the stroke. I am quite surprised that they manage to get 1.1 litre increase just from stroke, since Cosworth could not manage that for 1-77.

"As my two teenage girls would say ‘OMG!’. I received a completely night and day difference in performance after I had a Superlative Autosport technician come and program my daily driver. It was news to me when a business partner informed me of this software reprogramming wizardry that could drastically improve the HP and torque of my Bentley GT, but now I am so glad he did. This vehicle is a true sleeper after the software upgrade, extremely impressive stuff! Huge power when you need it and all the regular day to day driveability of a regular GT when you don’t."

Yes, I would suspect that the engine is bored and stroked. Maybe the "original" 6.6 conversion was a bored or stroked engine only?

I suspect they are using the commonly available beam rods from the Mondeo V6 as these are available from racing suppliers so the pistons would need to relocate the pin position to lower the piston with the longer stroke and as the pistons would require replacement anyway, you may as well increase the bore size as the cost would be the same.

Standard pistons are cast, so replacement on a performance engine to forged would be essential, especially with the extra loads of a stroked engine.

The only additional cost would be either boring or sleeving the block. I would assume that new camshafts would be installed to take advantage of the capacity increase unless they increase the valve sizes in their "modified Cosworth" cylinder heads.

As per their reply though, it is unlikely they will divulge their development route to getting to where they are, and I understand that.
