Hi,

Can anyone provide me with some options for independent servicing for Aston in the north? The only stuff I can find on here tends to be Southern UK. 6 month proud owner of 06 V8 Vantage and need to know where I can take it for odd stuff instead of official dealer all the time. I live in Barnsley in South Yorkshire, so Sheffield/Leeds/Manchester wouldn't be out of the question. Would ideally be looking for reputable place for servicing and I think it's going to need a new clutch in the next 5k (Done 39k on original clutch so it's doing well!).

Great info on here by the way. Already put my mind at rest on the bloody Exhaust Emissions Service warning light coming on almost as soon as I bought it!

Previous owner of Porsche 911 and TVR Tuscan before that so I'm used to living with a temperamental love life!

Many thanks.

Hi Chip
I am not too far away in Huddersfield, I have always made a day out of it and used Bamford rose for my bits and bobs and lunch in stratford, of course there are other independents about !!
bridge mill Cheshire, aston workshop beamish who come recommended and are about the nearest ones I know to us.
cheers mike

Hi Chip.

If you consider the travelling and time etc to take your car to an indie, you could drive up to JCT 600 in Leeds and have the peace of mind your P&J has been fettled by a franchised dealer. It's not as expensive as you might think.

I would also vote for Bridge Mill. They were very good in the short time I had my Aston.

Sorry, I thought you said the NORTH !

South of the tees is the south, you are in the "reet down south".

People, from further south again are the "Deep South" and have dinner when we have tea. whistle

Glad you are enjoying your Aston Martin, Richard.
They are really wonderful cars. Mine will thinking where I am. Waiting for that elusive dry day.

I cannot add to the answers others have already given, but just wanted say, you are one of numerous owners who have mentioned, they came to Aston Martin from TVR.

Their pricing was about £50 cheaper than the dealer for me.

obviously depends on how competitive your dealer want to be and their location ....some down South have labour rates near £150 ph ...so on a 5.5 hour service you are over £800 before you get started

If a dealer is like 10 miles away and within £50 of an independent price AND do a great job, its a no brainer smile

Brilliant! Thanks for the help.

Yes from TVR to Aston. Porsche 911s was a temporary lapse of concentration! It lasted just 3 months until I knew I had made the wrong decision. Wife was stood next to me at the time in the showroom when I had gone to look at the Aston which stood proudly next to the 911 "Get this, it's more economical and I can drive it!" she said peering toward the 911!

What was I thinking! I've never wanted a Porsche and always wanted an Aston! Still, all is now right with my world! My car nirvana has been reached.

Thanks for the help guys. TVR was a problem enough to service it after having to go to Harrogate each time the damned thing woke up on the wrong side of the bed in a morning, so good to get somewhere I can take this thing of beauty!

I live in Sheffield but work in Chesterfield so Stratstone Derby was close for me. I'm a big supporter of independents on the whole, and tend to scoff at those who are happy to be mugged by main dealers at service time, but Stratstone was close enough to save precious travel time and offered a good price ('09 DB9 with 20k miles).

They provided a very pleasant C Class courtesy car and didn't add anything to the original quote (nothing needed doing, which I knew having put the car up on a 2 post ramp to check it our beforehand).

I can't criticise them in any way and will have no reservations going the main dealer route with them next time (though I will always makes sure that things like pads/disks/shocks/tyres joints etc are always checked and sorted before service time).

Aston Workshop at Beamish would be my recommendation, they are Aston Authorised, but independent and also have some amazing facilities and cars to look at..
