Hi Guys.

Bit of a strange one in the workshop today. Free lander cut out on the motorway, would not start again, and it was towed to me. Pretty obvious straight away there was no fuel rail pressure. After a red herring with the fuel pump in the tank, I realised the problem lay in the high pressure pump. Removed, inspected, checked the cam was going around, couldn't see any issues. Rather than send for testing I bought a second hand unit, and fitted it. Try as I might I could not get fuel out of the high pressure port. Lot's of bleeding, (not all of it fuel related), and a fair bit of swearing to.
Anyway, stripped the old fuel pump to have a look - looked all OK. Bolted it back on for a closer look, and lo and behold, it stopped going around on cranking. On closer inspection, the fuel pump drive at the end of the cam appears to have broken.
Going to strip the engine in the next few days (still have compression thankfully), but has anyone else come across this?
It's an 07 plate with a DV12 (?) PSA 2.2 engine in it.

Cheers

This might be of interest, includes links to a website which suggests the 2007ish models had an issue: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=82212
