Driver rectification (Hants)

Possiblilty of being charged with driving without dure care after an accident I was involved in recently, but the BiB said I could elect to go on a driver rectification driving course.
If I do that, does it mean I don't get points and a fine, or does it reduce the points and fine??

Steve...you will neither get points or a fine....
although you will have to pay for the course....normally a few hours over a couple of days....Usually referred to as DIS. (Driver Improvement Scheme)...in the region of £140...
Better than points and fine....if offered the chance of a DIS...just at it..
Go along opened minded and you might come away with something...although extra cash wont be it...

Bad enough having the car written off - points and fine would add insult to injury, although I wasn't injured, but you know what I mean

Hope things work out. The police officer who investigated your collision, obviously liked you as the 'numpties' aren't offered the scheme if a chance of points and big fine may be on the cards.
I, however, am of the opinion that if you simply fine/give points 'willy-nilly', the driver might not acknowledge what he/she does wrong and doesn't learn, thus having the same sort of collision in the future.
At least with DIS, there is a chance that future collisions might be prevented.

Hear, hear, Roadcop. This is the type of sensible roads policing we are all crying out for. It's good to see that opportunities to identify drivers who might need further training are not all lost. (No offence meant bleesh)

As ive said earlier "all fines for speeding should be re directed to fund driver training courses"
At a stroke this would remove the arguement that "speed cameras are purely revenue generaters" and a by-product would hopefully be a rise in driver standards

I've always been in favour of driver education. With all the bloody money the scamera's are making wouldn't it make more sense for say everyones first speeding offfence to be offered a driver awarness course rather than a double tax demand (one for your fine and one for insurance). I would personally rather pay 140 quid, do a days course, have my faults pointed out to me and walk away with a clean licence than have 3 points and a fine. It would greatfully benefit road safety as some one would be pointing out your faults and hopefully making you safer. I'm sure many others would agree with me.
