A bit of a delicate subject, but where does one put one's junk when wearing a six point harness? I've just fitted a decent seat and harness to my car, all mounting points are exactly as per Schroth's recommendations in relation to seat position, but I'm struggling to get comfortable! I thought about posting everything through the gap between the crotch straps, but I think that may lead to amputation in the event of a bump. Sort-of sitting on them seems the best bet so far, but I doubt that will be comfortable for long. I'm not sure I want to remove anything biological in the quest for faster lap-times (not the sort of weight reduction I fancy), but since I have two kids that whole department has limited further usefulness so it may be an option.

How do F1 drivers manage? Are they all equipped with two marbles in a teabag, or do they train from a young age to tuck everything away like sumo wrestlers?

I know, I know, worst "I'm hung like a sexual tyrannosaur" thread ever, but I'd like to know if there's a trick of the trade or whether I just have to grin and bear it biggrin

Leave 'em where they are and don't be tempted to loosen that crotch strap. They aren't meant to enhance comfort. I always found them uncomfortable when sat about in the car waiting to go out on track but I never noticed them once I was on the track and had plenty of other things to think about. If you loosen them, you are just leaving a little leeway for your mass to accelerate forwards, only to be abruptly restrained by the crotch strap.

Everything in the middle put not pulled through for me...In fact you don't really want it all pulled through or down the side as it will get pinched by the straps.

Get used to belting in and checking that nothing is being uncomfortably squeezed and then possibly needing to get out of the car and starting again.

There is a thread floating around the net of a rally driver that had not worn his harness properly and ended up with a burst scrotum for it so get it right and use it properly!

I've got a 5 point harness and I've never used the "crutch" strap as it just looks like some sort of S&M contraption, can't see how it can be comfortable ratcheted up against a nut sack. Reading the above only serves to back up my fear frown

This is a bit late, but you need a decent harness! If you're not in a hurry to get in and strapped in, the loop through type are the best, otherwise something with a T bar. The crotch straps should be up the inside of your legs rather than over your sack.

Mine is almost identical to the Schroth one linked, just a slightly older design but still with a proper T-bar. I think maybe the buckle is sitting too low now I have moved the seat (not an easy job with the brackets being bolted to the floor!), I will have another look at the manual tonight but Iwonder if lengthening the lower straps may help.

It appears there is no magic solution though!
