Can I Do Anything With This Sky+ HD Box?
Discussion
As there is no aerial on the roof of my house, but i do have a satellite dish, I have been given my parent's old Sky+ HD box so i can watch terrestrial TV.
Thankfully they disconnected it before Sky sent out the kill code so I can still use the recording function.
Is there any benefit or risk if i connect an ethernet cable to the box, or anything else i can do with the box apart from just terrestrial TV (as I don't have a Sky subscription)?

They send stay alive codes via the dish. when the subscription finally goes the box will no longer record or show allready made recordings.Once that falls over the on demand services will also cease to work.
You will be able to use it to watch the freesat channels
In all honesty you may be better off with a humax freesat recording box the new ones have catch up services via ethernet, or buy second hand and get a now tv box for catch up.
