New tax system question

Hi All

With the withdrawal of the tax disc and the new dd system when are you covered to drive? I taxed a vehicle online yesterday using the dd method but after completion it said payment would be taken on the 28th Jan (tax period Jan 1st 2015), is my car now ok to drive or do I need to wait? It wasn't overly clear on the website.

ETA: vehicle enquiry shows as MOT'd yesterday but not taxed

I'd say the vehicle was taxed from the moment that you finished the process online.

In the olden days you didn't have to wait for your cheque to clear, you were covered immediately.

From Jan 1st, according to above info.

From the start of the month when the vehicle was taxed - 'twas always thus (and it hasn't changed) .
