Hi,
Im new on here so please be patient with my probably daft questions......
I am planning to use a Mk2 Cortina 1967, Shell and a Jaguar Sovereign 4l engine and running gear 1996...
My first question is When finished what road tax will i pay.

I'd be aiming for a pre 92 engine so you don't have to worry about having a cat fitted

I was under the impression that the OLDER part of the vehicle was the one that counted. EG, you could put a zetec in a morris minor, but it wouldn't have to pass the emissions tests?

It's not automatically exempt, if it hasn't been applied for you may be able to do it.
If you change too much you may have to register it as a "Q" plate.

Cortina already has plates and docs As does Jaguar.
only bit of cortina to remain is the shell..
Want to keep the cortina plates as they look great (black).

If you manage to keep the Cortina ID, then zero.

BUT... you can't, legally, keep the Cortina ID. Not enough points.
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/rebuilt-ve...

So you'd have to IVA it, Q-plate, £230 tax - no CO2 figure, 1550cc+.
