Help me choose!
Discussion
Hey guys. Buying a car (hopefully this weekend) got a 6 grand budget and more or less narrowed it down to two quite different cars. A honda civic type r fn2 or a fiesta zetec s tdci (both around 2008/9)
My heart says get the type r but I'm worried about the cost. The fact it does 30mpg less, costs £240 extra to tax and about 200 quid extra to insure aren't massive gripes. I'll be abit poorer during the month granted, but I'll have a nice, exciting, fast car!
What does worry me is the reliability issue. A couple of times a month I'll do a 500mile trip and I'm thinking the little diesel will cope better with this.. Hopefully you guys will tell me I'm wrong and that the honda is a solid motor that will cope fine with this. But I don't have much experience and the pessimistic side of me is saying the sportier car will be a bit fragile...
So what's the score guys?
Any advice appreciated.

Go with your heart and get the Type R.
If you don't you'll forever be spotting them saying 'damn, I should have got one of those'.
Plus you only live once, as above it'll be more expensive to run due to consumables etc but no less reliable, but the great thing about money is you can always earn more. Worse case situation is you realise it's not for you and you've outstretched your budget and you sell up, at least you'll have scratched that itch.
Edit, to put context to the situation I used to do Sheffield to St Andrews (800 mile round trip) twice a month minimum and did the trips in tuned and abused 1991 VW Polo's without any major issues.
