Following on from Impasse's thread about V8 rim design I looked at my own car with a more critical eye.
Although happy with the design I felt that the single colour lacked a bit of definition and contrast.
I decide to go with gloss black and polished faces in line with the SP10 and I'm very happy with the result.
For those of you in the southwest the work was done by SWWR at Marsh Barton and did a really superb job with excellent service.
I know colours etc are very subjective but what do you think of the before and after?

Nice, love the look of them. I think the contrast really works and 'lifts' the car.

I'm planning on gloss black centres for my new wheels (V8S wheels) when I gloss black the roof. How much did this set you back, may I ask?

I would say it just looks different in the after, neither better or any worse for it. However any polished finishes are always much more prone to corrosion and discolouration, just something to keep in mind.

Looks a lot better after INMO. Gives it more of a contrast. Good decision.

I am normally the one that says silver all the way thumbup

However, in this instance, the new inner black on the wheels, compliments the hood and the grill. yes

Significant improvement I say. Connect better with the dark grille and roof.

Wow!!!! They look fantastic Tim. I always felt the silver wheels were a bit non descript but now it really looks the business. Can't wait to see them in real life and bet they look even better than in the picture.

+1 for the guys at SWWR. They are very good and did a great job on my Merc wheels when i took them there for a refurb.

Mako Blue is a really nice colour and I like the contrast on the wheels now
I notice in your second picture the AM Badge on the inside painted face of the tonnau cover, looks good (is it a sticker)

I am wondering what to do next to my 2007 V8VR.........my wheels are Graphite Grey but might consider your idea of black inside

Amazing how different the same wheel can look in different colour effects - looked at a set of these second hand all silver but would get them redone black before even fitting them.

Crikey, your eyesight is good!!! Yep, a dark blue sticker to match the interior colour from fleabay.

Even your eyesight however is probably not good enough to spot that I also changed the centre caps so that the backing around the Aston Martin wording is black as well - thank you astonmartinbits smile

Oooh, I like that. Mine have been on for a couple of weeks now (but the other style of rim, probably should have updated that thread - whoopsie) and have the light grey inserts. But seeing the black bits on yours and the way in which it brings out the detail of the silver spokes has made a decision for me. They shall be blackened. thumbup

Actually I did zoom in on your centre caps as well (sad I know) and thought black ones might be nice

For example

Are you planning any other mods.................just a word of warning from an addict, once you start..............

I went with these http://astonmartinbits.com/models/5-V8-Vantage/par...

Now I'm in a "black" mood I'm thinking about carbon fibre strakes, splitter, diffuser etc. Will it ever end ???

I much prefer the finish and the cost is less than the list price difference between the official ones (which I think are graphite not black). Well worth doing especially if they needed doing anyway.

I know a place in Cannock that did a similar job on my BMW wheels for a similar price if anybody wants a recommendation further North. They'll store your car indoors while they do it if you're worried about that side of things.

Carbon Fibre Strakes - Done It
Rear Carbon Fibre Diffuser - Done It
Front Carbon Fibre Lip - Done it and now removed
Updated Front Bumper and Carbon Fibre Splitter - Done It
Black Carbon Edition Grille - Done It
New Style Alloys - Done It
New style N400 sills - Done It

I really should seek therapy

In actual fact the only thing stopping me on my next project is the price of crude oil (or the lack of it, bloody inconvenient)
