Blimey! Has GTA5 been around since 2013.

I only got a xBox 360 a few months ago and downloaded San Andreas as it was only £3. Been a while since Vice City but I was impressed yet my kids scoffed at the graphics, saying that they were 'lame'.

Downloaded GTA 5 a couple of weeks back and by God! it looks stunning. The attention to detail, the reflections in the bodywork of the cars, the way the whole city looks when you are up in a helo or a stolen 747. It's gorgeous.

I don't play it, I just wander around, do some driving and make many attempts to steal the aircraft biggrin

Yesterday I got an executive jet but it was badly damaged by police gunfire thus the engines flames out. Managed to glide it down to a smooth landing on a free way. Caused a major traffic jam biggrin

So this is 2 years old and I'm gob smacked, even the detailing of the concrete on the freeways is stunning.

Not sure if the cops want me for stealing a plane or for a traffic violation.

Hi,

Yes it really is a masterpiece isn't it? I was very impressed they managed to get such a pretty and detailed game to run well on the 360 and Playstation 3. The sunsets and big skies are amazing.

I appreciate you are running a few years behind and tbh, if you are happy there, then that is the best way to have cheap gaming fun.

IF you get a chance, have a look at GTA5 on a Playstation 4 or Xbox One. It is EVEN more sharp and detailed and stunning.

If you enjoy just wandering around taking in an environment, I completely love wandering around the hills and mountains and wilderness in Skyrim. I ignore most of the story and just wander around taking in the weather. It is fantasy rather than GTA5 reality based, but it is equally mind blowing in it's own way.

Cheers and glad to see ur gaming away at 50. An Ex GF of mine once asked me when I was going to give up gaming. I replied, about 5 mins before they put me in my box and bury me.

Once a gamer always a gamer. Just different levels of time on your hands.

Cheers and nice job on the aeroplane theft :-D

It looks great on PS4, I took these pics with the ingame camera thing, shame the image quality isn't the greatest.

I really can't wait until it comes out on the PC, March i believe.
It is supposed to look even better than the new generation of consoles, which themselves are great!

Get yourself a PS4 and come join the fun : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

FYI - the first 3rd person GTA game came out in 2001. It really heralded a new era in games, before that games had confines and directed the player in to one method/way of doing things. GTA3 was open world - much like GTA5 you got to wander around and make decisions on how you play the game. There is no one way to play the game.

There have been several GTA games since then, each one better than the last. One of them required you to eat food - eat too many burgers and you got fat and people would laugh at you in the street hehe So many little touches and details.

To me they are the best games out there. GTA5 took nearly 5 years to make and is believed to have cost over $250m. 24 hours after release it had sold something like 11 million copies, about $800m. It has now sold over 40m copies.

Have just started playing this again on 360, doing the submarine nuclear waste missions. The attention to detail under the sea is just breathtaking, for what is essentially a very tiny part of the game.

It's the attention to detail that amazes me. Like the comedy adverts, "smell the part", "strap on time" etc. Very very good.

my fave detail is probably the 'bongs' that tell you your car door is open. or more likely laying in a ditch...
i also like the alcohol shop 'liquor hole'!

My son got his characters drunk in a bar and then he was driving around and the screen was all double vision and blurry.
