Rover 416, 1.6 K series engine. The head-gasket and thermostat has just been replaced. The temp gauge goes into red when driven for about 10 miles.
Air lock in the cooling system?Pipe not reattached properly or damaged, meaning the system isn't sealed?
Enough water in the system?

Then its not been done right.Either it failed again immediately or the underlying cause of the hgf was never identified and it will fail again very shortly.
k series can be very problematic if not looked after properly.
Liners moving, tricky to bleed the cooling system, failing dowels, weak bolts securing the head, not the newer MLS gasket fitted, cracked / warped head, failed water pump, blocked radiator from first failure.....
take it back to whoever did the work and ask them to teach you some manners / English while they're looking at it.
edit: typo....lol
The car has done 39,000 genuine miles. I got the head gasket done by a very reputable garage. I supplied them with a uprated gasket and was fitted about 6,000 miles ago. The thermostat was done today to try and fix the problem but failed. When the car is started the gauge goes to it's normal position after about 2 minutes. It would normally move to this point after the car been started for 15 minutes. The heaters are sometimes going to hot but then go to cold, it varies The temp gauge then after about 7-10 miles, again varies will go up to just after the top marker very close to the red.
I took it to the garage today to get a thermostat fitted and they said it 100% is not the head gasket.
This problem occurred when the car got stuck in a field and I had to drive the car out, revving the bits off the car. The gauge went up to red while I was in the field. The clutch obviously went as well so I had that replaced.
Any other things it could possible be apart from the head-gasket and thermostat
