Hi all. Me again.

May sound like a daft question but will an electric sunroof panel from a oval dash model 944 fit my 924? Mine's electric, so no prob's there, but does anyone know if Porsche altered the sunroof in any way when they upgraded the 944 (different size, different clips & arms etc)?
I need to change my panel as, as you will know if you've read any of my posting before, I'm fitting a Carrera GT kit to the 924 & having it resprayed but, my panel has a couple a "stars" in it & I think its warped. It sits proud in the middle of the back edge (corners fit ok & doesn't leak). Don't want to put all this work into making my car look right, have gleaming panels, then spoil it all with an ill fitting sunroof.
If the 944 panel won't fit, is there a "trick" I can use to straighten out the exsisting panel (place in hot area with some form of weight on top)?
Thanks

Hi Pete,
As far as I am aware, they are the same item. I know for sure the seals are the same as I bought some........I reckon that if the seals are the same the metal bits must be...

Hope the project is getting on well...mine has slowed slightly due to work.

Hi Mike.

Work get's in the way of our "fun" all the time, don't it just!

Thank's for the info. I've located a 944 sunroof for £50.00. Wrong colour but as I'm having a full respray (eventually!!!) that's the least of my worries.

Things have slowed up a little in the paint stripping dept (won't go into detail here as I've just posted a question in general gassing). See what response I get to speed thing's up a little.

I'm having to do all my work on the car at my place of work as I don't have a garage. The up side is I have all the tool's I could ever need at my disposal, a spray booth that bake's up to 100 deg & plenty of room to work around the car. The down side is I can only do the work after 5.30 weekdays & after 11 am on saturday's when the factory is closed (sunday not an option as that's "Daddy Daughter Day" & wouldn't change that for the world!).

I'll be working on the 924 this afternoon again.

Not long done the front brakes on the 924. Bit fiddly mounting the bearing's in the brake disc's. This is the first car I've owned that had the bearings in the disc's. Got the drum's & shoe's to do the rear brake's but not fitted yet as reading in the Haynes manual it say's the castle nut's holding them on is tightened to 200 lb !!!!!! Trying to build up my strenght before I attempt to undo & give myself a hernia !!!

as far as I'm aware the panel should be identical. a while back there was a post about replacing a 944 sunroof with a glass or perspex panel, i think. someone wanted to know if you could shape a panel to the curve of the roof. it generated a considerable number of replies, many of which demonstrated a humbling degree of expertise. you might want to try a search for this thread and email some of the contributors
