Morning All,
Time has come to buy my first AM.
Question is the Virage that much different to the DB9 ? is it worth stretching my budget by £15,000 or so, or will I get just as much enjoyment from a DB9 ?

All your thoughts, and help, are gratefully received.

Lots of differences between the DB9 and the Virage that temporarily ran alongside it. More power, suspension and damper changes etc. basically a halfway house between it and the DBS.

Between the Virage and the DB9 that replaced it? Not much.

Its a wider body than DB9, with CCM brakes. It is basically, a DBS!! So, a great investment, i think......

Externally & internally between the Virage and DB9.2 you are correct. The big difference is hidden under the bonnet. yes

If you can stretch the budget, go for the Virage.

I had the same choice: went Virage.
More BHP, CCMs, felt sharper (to me) than DB9.1 IMHO which, coming from a 911, was important to me.

Also I think it's only the roof and windscreen that was shared with the DB9.1. So there are differences there as well... smile

As ever try both and see which you fancy. FWIW only 250 or so Virages in UK, so not that many around.

Can only say: I love mine.

It look better to me. Overall looks more modern. . New frontend looks fresher with the Drls and so on.
DBS would look perfect if it adopted some of that.

Indeed. There are some very special DB9s out there. Something for the OP to consider as well. Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Blofeld in the flesh or hearing him yet. eek

Hopefully will remedy that someday soon!

The Virage looks just like the gen-2 DB9, so more up-to-date and modern than the earlier DB9. It has added sports car genes so sits between DB9 and DBS.
A few key "snippets" + 20 horses with a higher final drive ratio for the the standard Touchtronic II gearbox giving the car a more fast revving feel, in combination with a Sport mode that (like the DBS) also changes the throttle map. It also sounds better, although it does have less torque (- 23lb-ft) than the DB9. The Bodyshell has enhanced rigidity and the suspension is more sporting with an enhanced ADS system (adaptive dampers) and huge Carbon Ceramic brakes for reduced unsprung weight and superb stopping power. The interior is also enhanced, glass switches, upgraded leather with piping, alloy seat controls, the new Garmin Navigation and beam wipers, etc. Not forgetting the larger 20-inch alloys with wider tyres and the Bi-Xenon lights.
Having said all this you need to test drive both and see what suits you best as some prefer the softer lines and GT brief of the earlier 9...... best of luck smile
