Probably going to buy it again today.

I had it on PS3 before I bought my PS4, I never played it online as I got new console on release day, and didn't find the time.

Could anyone give me a quick lesson on how it all works online? Stuff like crews and playing with people on here.

Thanks.

Go to http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/ and sign up.

Then go to the crew page http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew/pistonhea... and request an invite.

Finally add your name(s) to the table at the bottom here, so we know you are on here.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There is no story to online, its just a free world for you to do what you want.

When it starts you will have to create your character. Take your time, you can only do this once.

You then do the intro that gives some basic pointers, this will also give you an insured car for free.

Look around the map you'll see blue circles - these will start some type of activity: a mission, race, survival etc. You can also access these from the options -> online menu. You can google all the different types of activity. Some will require more than 1 player, others you can do on your own if you wish. Mot of the time the crew stick to racing or missions.

All activities earn you money and RP points. RP points have defined levels (the blue bar at the top of the screen shows how far away the next level is). As you work up through the levels stuff (weapons, clothes and I think some car mods) unlock. Last unlock is at level 120.

Race wins (and/or just completing a number of them) also unlock car mods.

Aside from that in freeroam there are a bunch of different things to do: You will see red circles appear on the map, if you wander in to them it starts a "gang attack", you need to kill between 15-30 enemies, there are about 50 of them, they gain you a couple of grand and some ammo (shoot open green crates for the ammo and look for cash bundles in the area - usually two $500 ones).

You can rob the 7-11 stores for a few grand, just point your gun at the guy behind the desk. Have a car outside as you'll get a wanted level.

You will be notified of armored truck near you, blow the back doors and money will drop out, as much as $10-12k but often $6-8k. Again, this gets you a wanted level. Easiest way is a sticky bomb on the back doors, but you can shoot them open with a shotgun.

You can also play tennis (against someone else), golf and darts - just look for the obvious symbols on the map.

You receive texts from Simeon to get him a car from the list, these cars will be driving around or parked. Once stolen you need to respray it and take it to the docks, the money you get for this isn't great, but its better than nothing when starting out. Sometimes a green car appears on the map - this is a high priority car that Simeon wants, worth a bit more (say $8k up to about $16k).

Once you have a bit of money you can buy a property, these give you a garage where you can store your cars. Don't bother with the ones that only let you store 2 or 6 cars, buy a cheap 10 car garage property. Some properties are an apartment with garage attached, others are just a garage. To start with (and keep costs down) buy one thats just a garage - when heists appear you'll need an apartment to host a heist, but don't worry about that right now. Currently you can own 3 properties.

You can steal most cars from the street and put them in your garage and/or see them. High value cars (like supercars) cannot be stored or sold - you have to buy them. You can only sell a car off the street every GTA day (48mins real time). If taking cars off the street to store go to LSC and insure it - this means if the car is destroyed you can phone Mors Mutual on the phone and get the car back for a small fee. If another player destroys your car they pay and you get it back free.

When stealing cars you will sometimes get text messages from the owner, you end up with a bounty on you $1-9k. These last for a GTA day (48 mins real time). If another player kills you they get the money, if you survive you get the money. You need to be outside (i.e. not in your garage/apartment) for the bounty to keep counting down.

Currently there are some modified cars that spawn, the most profitable is a dubsta (4x4 thing) that spawns just up in the hills, there is plenty of info on finding these if you search, currently they can be sold for $36k using a glitch (in the LSC you buy the cheapest suspension in the list, then go to the horn section, the last horn in the list is free, now go back and select the most expensive suspension again).

When earning money make sure you don't hold it in cash - use the phone web browser to go to Maze bank and deposit it. The reason is that you can be robbed if you hold it as cash.
You can change your character's hair, get tattoos and buy new clothes - again look for the obvious symbols on the map. Once you have an apartment you can change clothes there.
The phone web browser also lets you get to a few shops - 2 for cars, warstock and one for cycles. Warstock sell (for the most part) military vehicles that you can request by calling pegasus from the phone. Don't worry yet, but later on consider buying a buzzard as it makes quite a few missions easy. If you buy cars they will appear in your garage and will already be insured.

You can also use the phone to call the mechanic, who will deliver one of your cars to you.

There is more to it, but that gets you started. You will see invites to races/missions from crew but also from Gerald, Martin Madarzo, Lester etc. Join crew ones and you'll get levelled up pretty quickly because we can start more profitable missions that you will be able to (they unlock as you progress). I expect we can spawn a dubsta or two for you to sell too !

Crew are generally on from early evening until silly hours of the morning.

Also, dont worry anout being rubbish at missions to start with, everyone gets the same payout. Most, if not all, crew members wont mind if you hang back in missions and just kill one or two people. As Crafty said, its a great way of levelling up and gaining money fast. Get with the right crew members when they are 'grinding' and you'll easily make a few hundred thousand dollars in an evening!

You need to join social club to join a crew.

Being in a crew (or at least, our one) gives advantages in that you don't have to play with idiots who take you out in races or screw around in missions. Public lobbies can be crap for new players because you get picked on/killed quite a bit - crew members (as a rule) won't do this and will help attack anyone in public lobbies who kill one of our crew.

There are a few new players at the moment so if you all group together and take it in turns to win races you can earn a bit of cash and unlock the car mods - Karl_mac was talking about this last night.

It is more fun being part of a crew, you dont have to hang around with them the whole time and usually if youre being hassled by other players they'll come and help you out.

Plus you get the random events that take place when a load of phers get together, be it racing, whitedot hunting, 5mins of beating the hell out of each other etc.

I don't think there are that many on Xbone, there was a few on X360 but quite a few came across to PS4.

The Wiki above holds the list of XBox live players as well, their thread is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
