I'm planning on moving in the next year and intend to have a room dedicated to home theatre.

Anyway, I couldn't help myself by having an 'interim' set up on the basis kids will find a use for the stuff in a few months. So, yesterday I bought myslef a top notch projector, screen and state of the art sound system. I've set it up in my lounge (much to the wife's annoyance) and connected it to a DVD player and Sky Digital. Fantastic quality - both picture and sound. Should have done it years ago. I can now enjoy movies as the director intended it, without sitting in movie theatre with people talking, sweet wrappers, slurping drinks, mobile phones ringing, etc...

sounds great. A good surround sound system changes the whole experience; the sound makes the movie. Now go watch Jurassic Park!

How do you get on with the projector/screen/daylight interface?

I've got a large plasma screen TV - and it's pretty decent. Tell you what though, if you buy a really decent digital projector and and a good sound system, you can have a 10ft (or more) screen size and cinema quality sound. Absolutely brilliant!

I have my eye on one of these,

As space is limited the speaker set up is fantastic.

You spent circa £3k on the projector and only £600 on the sound system?? Thats like buying a Ferrari and running it on 2 star!!

I have to say that you'd be much better off with an Anthony Gallo set up and a really good DVD player at the kind of money. The BOSE stuff is good but the Gallo stuff is out of this world, especially with some Due's up front and a nice big sub.

I'm no expert in these matters. All I know is the results are fantastic - both sound and vision.

That’s what I thought. If I were spending that money on the projector then I’d definitely be looking at separates and a top brand speaker package to go with it for the sound.

In fact with the system I’ve just ordered I’ve done it the other way around, About 1500 on the projector and screen combined and about 2500 on the player, amp and speakers.

Still, each to their own…

Well thats the important bit.

I'd have placed more of the budget on sound but I use mine for music and movies , but whatever floats your boat

Cant beat a big screen either, I have no room for a projector, mebee get a plasma soon tho.
