I devoted quite a lot of effort and time to this issue. I have a GTR without A/C and was concerned about the ability to keep cool and demist sufficiently. I asked the factory about fresh air and they did not worry about it so I set about a suitable solution. I did, as is logical, take a duct from the brake grill at the front and route it to the cockpit. However I moulded in fibreglass the ducting to the front clip, this allowed me to close off the gap between the bodywork and the wheel arch (I hate getting road muck everywhere). This ducting then mated with a new 4" dia. grilled hole cut into the scuttle, sealed with door seal. From that scuttle hole I ducted 4" standard heater hose to one side of the fan mounted on the back of the heater box, the other side I made an ally blacking plate, so all air is fresh and not re-circulated (it will never be too cold in a GTR!). Something else that I did which might be a bit unusual is that on the other side I mirrored the fibre-glassed ducting but cut the duct horizontally in line with the top of the brake duct opening (for a ventura setup) and mounted a small fan in the cockpit side of another mating 4" hole. The theory being that you can only get so much air in, but by sucking some out the flow would be increased!
And the result; pretty good, no demisting issues at all and a reasonable fresh air flow. The only down side is if I get too close to some ones exhaust, but I consider that payback as most people probably moan about being behind mine!

Following on from Phils post I been trying to look at fixing the pipes to the heater fan, how about this as a solution for fresh air....
The first part is as everybody has suggested and run the pipes from the brake ducts to into the cockpit.
The next part is where do you run the pipes to, fan, heater box, or just vent them inside the cockpit?
What about getting two extra demister vents (these come in two parts, upper and lower) take them apart and using the lower parts fix (glue) these to the sides of the fan motor housing, they are virtually a perfect fix. Then the pipes can be attached to these and when the fan is turned on it has to suck in fresh air and not recirculate the cockpit air.
Do you think that would work? I'll put a pic and description up on my website later when I get round to it.

This inner wing wraps around, following the contour of the centre section leaving a ~5mm gap when the front clip is closed. This is of course completely optional but does also offer a great deal of protection from road debris.

This shows the underside of the dash (upside down). I did a bit more work on this than may be needed but it offered a firm base in which to attach the 100mm tubing that is routed to the blower fan. I have left room for a further fan/ducting on the inlet side which I may or may not use in the future. The outlet side is similar, but smaller, and is designed for a small fan unit mounted to suck air out of the cockpit.

Not quite what I had in mind ariund the heater.
The first pic yes, was going to construct something similar into the scuttle, but using a plastic brake duct.
The second pic is a very neat install.
In the third, any reason for the 'inner duct'or was that just to add a fan later?
The forth pic is interesting, I was going to use the demist vents backing plate over each side of the motor casing, these are only 52mm though (half your size) would these be big enough, also this pic suggests that one side of the fan sucks and the other blows 'cos of the blanking plate?

The fan unit on the back of the heater box has two inlets, one on either side, so both would draw air in, this is why I blanked one side off so the other just draws air from the ducting. As for size, really the bigger the better otherwise resistance and efficiency may become an issue, which is another reason for the blanking plate.
Air is sucked out of the cockpit with the separate fan unit that is wired to come on whenever the heater blower is on. This exits on the right of my car, shown on the left of the up-side-down under dash picture.

excellent application of the fresh air ducts, the only thing I would have added is a trap door that can either be opened (so fresh air feeds blower) or closed (so that cockpit air is recirculated).
That way you could close at high speeds, really cold days and in traffic, and have open on those hot days.
Having driven the canam in all weathers this fresh air route is almost certainly the next mod I would have done.
