Isolating swirl pot "waist band" jubilee clip

I have noticed some corrosion and pitting under the jubilee clip on the swirl pot.

Its not leaking yet, but will soon if I don't do something. I have a couple of thoughts and would like some feedback.

Option 1) cut an old inner tube to make a strip of rubber to put under the jubilee clip. Would this stop it?

Option 2) just use a tie wrap instead.

Both will do it
Abit of oil/ greece between the pot and clip of choice

As above. Bit of rubber would look better, trimmed to fit.
