First of all, do excuse my ignorance. I'm new to the forum! I am however a frequent observer and I know how helpful you guys can be.

So essentially I've been driving a year now, I have a 2014 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 and I just want something that's a bit more "special". My ambitions has always been to have a nice car, something I can cherish for quite a few years. I have had a look at Boxsters, Cayman's, and even considered the Z4's. Ideally I want something fast and that roars. Being 23 does have it's benefits, insurance is signifcantly lower despite only having 1 years ncb.

I'm that type of person who would ultimately prefer a car as opposed to a long term aspiration such a house, you only live once and you never know whats around the corner!

Would appreciate some suggestions or guidance!

I'll most likely go with a finance package of up to 20k.

Ooooh, so much potential GG bait in the first two posts.

I'm on the fence with this one... hehe

OP, at age 23 and having had only one previous car you have no idea what you actually want from a car. Getting up to your eyeballs in debt and committing to keep it for several years is a bit like buying the second woman you ever meet a 20k engagement ring.

Presume your corsa is on finance?

Work out how much you have lost in 1 year of ownership inc finance costs and then think whether getting a £20k car out of warranty with 3/4 the overall running costs is a good idea.

With regards to the ballpark figure, it's "up too". One of primary cars I was looking at was a used boxster for little under 6k at 70k miles? I do understand the finances involved.

Its not buying these cars its running them got to remember a boxter was £40k new so whilst it may be £6k now it still has £40k car running costs.

A set of discs and pads all round fitted would probably cost close to £1k I would assume then you have the IMS bearing issue and fact engines can just go which would effectively right a cheaper one off.

If like your corsa a sensible step up may be a hot hatch which tend to have pretty good running costs or if want a convertible maybe a Z4 which are not too bad to run.

I am aware of the common problems, yes. This is primarily why I was going to use these things to my advantage on a potential purchase. Would you consider buying such a model with that mileage? I'm aware the costs may be slightly higher as opposed to other dealers, but it's a beautiful car and unique in that respect.

Again this is why I'm here. I do appreciate your comments and I like the idea of weighing my options out. So many cars in mind.

If you've come from a brand new Corsa then keeping a lion will seem the sane choice vs getting a £6k Boxster. Get the lion.

It's a bit like a tiger, only more yellow and more lazy
I'd go with a bear

I would consider one yes but would go in eyes open with a £2/3k slush fund and prepared to deal with 25 - 30mpg and a probably shelling out 1k+ a year on general servicing and maintenance.

Need to go in with your eyes open and research the car throughly even things like tyres are going to be 2/3 times the price of a 1.2 corsa. Then tax is going to be a lot more, insurance etc...

Not saying don't go for it but research it properly!
