End of lease deals

Has anyone ever taken over someone elses lease, I've seen various websites offering cars with anything from 6 months to 24 months left. The idea seems to be that they have made the upfront payments then you just take over the remaining payments and presumably any liability for damage/excess mileage.

I don't want to commit to a 24 month lease for a staff member who may not stay that long.............any ideas
