Gents.

I'm currently making moves to get into a V8V in the next few months and was curious as to what existing owners do with regards to insurance and if there are any preferred suppliers.

My private cars have been insured on a classic policy but as I'm looking at a 2006/7 car, I'm not sure how this will fare - although my understanding is that certain marques with limited mileage policies are considered one in the same thing these days.
That said, I'd like to cover one of my other cars on the same policy if I can in an effort to consolidate and reduce the amount of hassle come renewal time etc.

Thoughts?

Just call your broker for advice maybe and they can advise on a policy to suit?

Multi car policies are a bit odd as to what can go on them. I now have all but one of the cars on a fleet policy, but it wasn't always so due to various inclusion/exclusion criteria. Drop Christian an email christian@keithmichaels.co.uk and ask him. If it's something he can help with he will, but if you're best off doing it yourself through a high street firm eg Admiral, he'll tell you that.

Try DL - if you're a half decent risk you might be surprised how cheap. Admiral last year matched my best NCD I had on a different car too. I have 3 different policies and it's not that much hassle for the saving

Hi

Also try Footman James, I have a multi car/classic car policy with them which has 12 TVR's (From a 1979 Tasmin to a 1998 4.5 Cerbera) and a 07 Range Rover on it, fully comp, unlimited milage and 10 named driver's all for £2.2k with a £200 excess.

Also worth trying Claire Manton at Lockton who run the Aston and Ferrari owners club schemes - 0845 602 5957

£277 from Aviva but with a big excess. Lockton's were more than double. Admiral I steer clear of. Direct Line would only take it on if I had a tracker.

Worth remembering with an Aston and others with potentially high depreciation and even higher cost to fix, and where inherent value can be significantly greater than "book", that with some insurers you can lock in an agreed valuation. Bad enough if it gets bent - tragic then to be told "it's a write-off" and insurer will only pay out you say £30k if you paid £70k for it not so long ago!!
