Looking at buying some share keeping them for at least 5 years & reinvesting the dividends.

What's the most cost effective way to do this?

How much £ you looking to invest? How many different shares? Buy them in an ISA wrapper, avoids tax and any capital gain. Use a decent broker with an online dealing platform.

I've been looking at iweb, is that the kind of thing.

Probably at 10 to 12 shares.
