Another positive Trafpol experience

I was travelling North in my Porsche on the M6 toll road today. Road was almost deserted, dry and with good visibility. Whilst travelling at 85 to 90 mph I approached a dark coloured Volvo saloon, I slowed as I came up along side it, checked for Police type aerials and hidden lights, didn't see any so continued on past. We carried on for about ten minutes minutes with the Volvo behind me, it then came passed and flashed the rear screan "Police" sign at me twice and then drove on.

I like to think the Bibs saw a well driven Porsche and were just letting me know that I should resist giving the air cooled flat six maximum wellington.

Been out in the unmakred today (and again tomorrow), and in between getting statements and interviewing for my ongoign files, I've "had" to flash the "POLICE - SLOW" sign at a few people - all of whom instantly took the hint, so didn't require stopping.

The driving style didn't give it away then Piper?

I automatically assume anyone who indicates more than a couple of times before changing lanes (but who doesn't indicate when moving from 3 to 2 or 2 to 1) is a BiB.

Or, for that matter, on the M40 in the mornings, anyone who uses lane 1 at all!

I was stopped for the first time the other night. The BiB who stopped me just wanted to point out the speed limit for the road I was on as it might save in future!

Nice to see this kind of thing going on rather than just sticking cameras on every single road.

Kind of restored my faith in the BiBs

Followed a car into London tonight from Greenford to Hanger lane he sat in Lane 2 with a huge crowd around him all driving at the limit, I sat in Lane 1 and it was empty as far as the eye could see! The car had British Transport Police stuck down the side of it, about 50 yds before the end of the slip road to get off at Hanger lane ..... yep he pulled into the slip road! He must have been lost! Perhaps his first time in London...

Do those guys have any powers on public roads? I only ask because whenever I see them on the motorway and everyone sticks within the limit, I pay no heed to them and continue. I havent had a problem in doing so. Yet!

They didn'y until a couple/few years ago - now they exactly the same powers as "Home Office" forces.

As BTP don't have traffic offoicers per se, the tutors (including me) on Traffic take them out when they are in their ten week tutored period to show them the ropes.

I worked in an Octavia today which has the word POLICE in red letter on the right hand side of the tailgate. The sign is about 7" x 3"....and sooooo many people didn't see it....
