Hi All

I am building a 6inch false wall to sink the tv into.

I only have 6inches to play with (stop giggling at the back) because of a side door.
I also dont want floorstanders.

I was thinking of using this http://www.richersounds.com/product/installation-s... for the sides.

What centres would go with this I could use one of these as a center (never knew why centers have 2 cones?)

The other idea was just buy a set of small satalite speakers to recess but I dont think this will be as good as the above.

Any ideas what to use - Budget £250ish front/rear/centre

Well those speakers are sold as singles so you'd need more than £500 to do all 5 as in walls so nowhere near your budget.

You could just do the front 3 and then add the rears at a later date. IMO matching the front sound stage is important however I've never felt matching the rears to be as important plus they could be mounted relatively high in the corner so some standard satellite speakers could do the job for the rears.

I've got rears and a sub for now its just the fronts I was looking at.

Ive got the monitor audio bx2 fronts & centre but they are just too deep I think about 10 inches.

OK that makes more sense. TBH I'd prefer decent in wall speakers to poxy satellites. You can get some good results but it is very dependant on the install, the speakers need enough volume to work well and also a nice solid wall to be mounted into.

I've got in wall speakers in my kitchen I'm very pleased with, but I put a lot of effort into the wall they are in but it was worth it.

I was also quite limited to a smaller depth, not sure how much difference it made but my wall has gaps in the frame, my thinking was to give me a larger volume of air behind the speakers. They're not the best for bass but if you're using them for HT you'll have them set as small on the amp and let the sub handle that anyway.

Here's mine

These are Linn Sekrits I bought 2nd hand from Avforums. I actually have a 3rd speaker i n the loft and there is space below the TV for a centre if I wish and cabling for rears in the ceiling but I've never felt the need for 5.1 in the kitchen.

If you've already got some speakers that sound OK, and you are building a false wall, why not build some basic boxes into the wall, and fit the drivers, crossovers and filling from your existing speakers? Should be relatively easy to knock up some boxes from mdf, same volume as the originals, so wider and taller but shallower.

If you have Monitor Audio, then look at their in wall trimless ranges.

The WT265 is only 86mm deep.

Another option maybe to make the stud wall into a wide chimney effect this will leave me with a 6inch deep recess/reveal by the side door (thinking the room may look strange with the wall flush up to door)

The wall in question is 10ft and will also have a projector screen come down so the speakers will need to be in each corner so the screen does not cover them.

I could then maybe use these at the sides

Can find any reviews thou.
