Hi guys,

Need your advice on this.

I bought a new Omega Speedmaster from Goldsmiths 4 years ago, I've used the watch daily (I believe watches should be worn and not stored away). I've taken my watch in for it's 4 year service at Goldsmiths and started to look at the Rolex's that they had on display.

I quite liked the Explorer II and the Submariner with Date, both black. I'm in two minds to part ex my Speedmaster for one of these watch however the salesman was saying I should hold onto the speedy. I'm also concious that I only need one watch and don't want to keep one stored away. However I'm also thinking I could hand down the speedy to my son when he is older, he is 6 at the moment :-)

Would you guys recommend that I part ex my Speedy or is it worth keeping it? Also would you recommend the Sub or the Explorer? Btw it would be my daily watch.

Wellllll... If you don't need the money, I'd keep the speedmaster.... You could get it serviced and refurbed, (it should come back like new) and tuck it away for your lads 18th, or wedding or other special occasion...

Regarding the Explorer II or the Sub.....try on both, I personally prefer the Explorer II but there is no wrong choice IMO

Given what Goldsmiths offered me in px on a year old 'mint' POC 9300 against a Explorer II the salesman was probably doing you a favour! or too embarrassed that he was the one having to rely the offer from their 'pre owned' department back to you!

W-o-S offered me £2k more the same day against the same watch...

So if your going down the px route defiantly shop around!

& yes I would defiantly recommend the Explorer II its a stunning watch smile

it is the Speedmaster professional, it's currently being serviced.

Money isn't an issue so I don't have to sell, just feeling guilty that I may not wear it much if I get the Rolex.

At the shop I preferred the Explorer, a few more minutes and I would have bought it but I thought better and decided to do some research. In fact I bought the Speedy without realising the history of the watch. I've read negative feedback on the Explorer but I thought it was gorgeous however the Sub date is growing on me.

Where else would you recommend to buy the watch from? I do like the 0% that Goldsmiths offer but they wouldn't entertain any discount.
