I have been trying to buy a new car for the last few weeks & have had various issues with 2 different dealers, Are they all this terrible?
1st Dealer :
- Offers £27k part ex on website but when I arrived at dealer he couldn't offer that price - The website is always giving out wrong prices, the max would be £26k...
- Big Posters & adverts on website saying £500 deposit contribution on all finance deals - When in dealership they said they priced the car too low, so couldn't do finance contribution & its upto the managers discretion anyway (not in t&cs)
- Worked out a deal getting a contribution as a 'manager special' and agreed on getting a firm PX figure within the next few days... Waited & waited & waited & then come back with £25k, £2k under the offered price originally (car was showroom ready)
- Offers similar deal as 1st but offering more for PX - Car is On display outside of dealer with stickers on - Salesman says it'll be as good as new when picked up, no marks on paint etc... You'll never know it was stickered... - So did deal & On Handover still covered in sticker residue, and scratches on every panel... - Surely on handover you'd check the car was in the correct condition??
- Handover at weekend in dark as they are too busy in the day selling..... - Covering up issues with car?
- Car with 6 miles on clock, found following issues on handover - Missing alloy wheel centre caps, missing aerial, damaged alloy wheel, chips in paint, not clean inside - Do dealers really think this is acceptable?
- As part of the deal the dealership were paying off the PX Finance, and using balance towards new car, I sent them the settlement figure & letter, stating the date the settlement needed paying by yesterday... - I find out today its not been paid and they are selling my PX, even though its not been paid for - Is this legal?
Cheers
Rawy
I repeat for the 100th time.
Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why do people deal with main dealers ????
They are NOT in the least interested in you. They ARE interested in what's in your wallet, and this is all that they see when you, the mug, walks into their dealership. Very, very few main dealers are customer focussed, but they certainly are wallet focussed.
Sadly, most of the short sighted PHers that frequent these places of high rip-off will continue to do so, making the main dealers misguidedly think they are doing a good job.
I rest my case.

t every time this subject comes up?Show me a car dealer, franchise or independent or even a private seller who isn't interested in what is in your wallet, that's what selling a car is all about, getting the cash for it.
Sorry to hear of the op's issues but I'm pretty sure they could be resolved with a phone call to the dealer.

Why oh why do people insist on dealing with supermarkets/department stores/virtually any other retail outlet when all they're interested in is selling you stuff and what's in your wallet? Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why do people deal with main dealers ????
