I have a vostok that is pretty much bombproof along with a couple of other watches ( I know, it's addictive)

I was wondering how to date it. It's an amphibian, numbers 118078, 17 jewels and looks pretty old. I would anticipate 1970's

Can anyone help with this? It's purely my curiosity. Tough old watch though thumbup

I'm assuming USSR as it has CCCP on the lower right of the dial?

I am afraid that I have nothing useful to add, other than yours appears to be a proper CCCP Amfibia and not a modern one like mine.

It keeps fantastic time, and rather novel in that I have to wind it up!!
It appears waterproof to swimming pool depth. Not sure if I'd take it to the alleged 200m depth though biggrin
Your is a fine example!

Hi Mike,

I've just joined the forum but I do have a small collection of Russian watches and this looks similar to one of mine. Here's a close up picture of mine so you can compare it to yours (I have now ditched the orange Nato !).

If yours has сделано в CCCP at the bottom it confirms that it was made in the Soviet era. I don't think it's 1970's though I think it is probably more like mid 1980's. At least that's what I have always been convinced mine was. Mine is a Soviet made Vostok Amphibia, case 470, caliber Vostok 2409A

Yeah I thought it was the same. I really like the 470 cases if I see another nice 470 with a different dial I will probably grab another one.

And also I have to say that I prefer wearing the older stuff to some of the new watches. Don't get me wrong I like the new ones as well such as the New Amphibians but I find the older ones lighter and more comfortable to wear. Plus it is always nice to think you have a bit of history from the cold war period which you can use and wear daily.
