I have been offered the change to buy an Aston Martin Vantage roadster in bright red, with black leather and black hood.

It looks absolutely stunning, I am not sure the name of the paint code, it is not Torro Red the burgundy colour, it is more like Rosso Corsa Ferrari colour, it's the only one i've ever seen in this colour.

My previous vantage roadster was black, which I sold with ease, I can't find a comparable on Autotrader or Pistonheads for a Aston in this colour, what are your thoughts please trusted pistonheads community about the potential the resale value of the car?

Cheers.
Dean

My thoughts: Ferraris are Red, Astons are silver or black or any of a million shades inbetween. The black interior will help a lot come resale, and I'm guessing the value will be close to a black/grey one in comparable condition/mileage. Might take you a bit longer to find someone who wants a red one though. Having said that, someone on here must know a reliable person in the AM network who will be able to give a more informed view.

Take a look at my V12VR on the photo thread. It is flame orange. I have a DBS in the same colour. Based on the number of show organisers who ask me to bring them along, and the number of folk there who try to buy them, I don't think you will regret buying a less traditional colour. There are rather too many Astons out there in the safe colours that dealers ordered cars in for stock! I did wonder whether I was doing the right thing when I bought my DBS, but the attention it received just driving it home convinced me!! It is important the whole package is right. The flame orange or red work with the dark carbon, black grilles and right wheels - other finishes might result in a less strong package. There are some colours even I would steer clear of, though!

Totally disagree. Astons are always grey and silver, there is even a thread on here "the non grey and silver Aston picture thread" somewhere. Yes they tend to be thought of in those colours just as Ferraris are red and Porsche are silver but going against the grain makes it stand out that little more. Just after I bought mine I went to Beaulieu to a show, as I pulled up the lady taking the money to get in said "oh, that's nice you normally see them in silver".
Now it all opinions and personal taste but I don't think you loose money on a non silver Aston.

Apologies for poor quality photo, im sat in Afghanistan with 3 pictures on my iphone, so decent photos are limited.

Buy it! Red looks great on an Aston. My V8V was Amethyst Violet, the only one afaik, and I loved it. Wish I could have had the V12V in the same colour.

There has been a v12 vantage for sale on auto trader for months - cheapest v12 in the country by a reasonable margin, and it just doesn't seem to sell. It might be the car in general on closer inspection that's the problem but it's also red.

You haven't even bought it yet and you are worried about the resale value??? How long are you going to keep it....6 months? I can assure you we don't buy Astons to make money.... (Unless its a classic or barn find).

If you like it buy it and enjoy but there is no doubt that it might well take longer to resell.
Then again you might be lucky and find a customer who, like you ,wants something a bit different.
It took me a year to sell my 1991,Virage albeit not for reasons of colour but because of its reputation.
