It will either work or it won't John. The VXR8 has brown for both and you simply connect up and try, if it doesn't work, switch them around, you won't damage it.

As you take the connectors off the negatives are at the bottom, just looked you have a 'ro can't remember exactly as its been ages since i did mine, hopefully you have small hands, they are a bugger to fit.

What you think of them john, I have been toying with the idea for ages, I bought a set for the lower spot lamps (the ones that are domed) but not fitted them yet, will get a set for the low beam and fit all at same time, where did you get them from ?

Did mine yesterday Mick, with two battered hands but well worth it in the end.

Beware, spend a little more, quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.

Well worth the money for the quality of light you get, using 35w on both my vehicles, one running 6000K and the other 10,000K.

With the cheap ones you find that something is normally broken, i went through 1 set of bulbs and 1 set of ballast until they both worked, spend a little more and get it right first time.

I haven't had the chance to test them yet! misses had me doing other stuff once I had finished rolleyes

my hands are not too bad luckily, but I did a number on them changing the windscreen wipers the other day.

I got the 35w kit with 4300k and some LED sidelights. will get back to you once I have had a chance to drive it.

took me 4 hours but I did stop for lunch and a trip to get a big drill bit.

The car looks great with the kit installed. 4 hours is better than the 10 it took me to fit in my 635. I had to get a tetnus after the install due to the amount of blood I had lost.

I've had HID's fitted to my 635 for 10 years now and am on my second set in 60k and am keen to sort out the candle power on the monaro. I agree it's worth getting a quality unit. I had hella ballasts and Phillips lamps.

As for the kelvin rating a higher rating is not better as it's an indication of colour temperature and not brightness which would be measured in luminens. A normal halogen is around 3000 kelvins and 1500 luminens and has a yellow hue. Pure white light similar to sunlight is 4100 kelvins and would be around 3500 luminens. 5000-6000 has a slight blue tinge and as you go up to 10,000 you start to go purple. The more you go up the more luminens you will loose. Most oem systems are 4000-5000 kelvins. For fog lights you are actually better having a yellow light as this cuts through fog better.

Sorry I am carrying on and don't want to hijack this thread, but was about to post a new one. I have a couple of questions from those that have fitted them to our cars. Have you experienced any error messages or bulb failure messages. This is certainly an issue on BMW's so this requires a canbus HID kit.

Also the user manual does not list the bulb types for our cars. I have a 5.7 VXR monaro. I believe the dipped beam is h11, full beam h9, fogs h3 . I am not sure what sidelight bulb size is.

I have also just found a Philips LED headlight replacement bulb which is plug and play and requires no modification of the back of the headlight and does not require ballasts. They cost more than HID's. Anyone fitted LED bulbs. Any good? They apparently turn on without delay so can be also used in main beam too.
Help and guidance much appreciated

That's how i felt after both my installs.

I simply went for 10k as i wanted the blue light and it is a vast improvement over the stock lights

Ive had no error messages whatsoever on mine or flickering.

I believe you are right the monaro dipped is h11, full beam h9 and fogs h3, i may be wrong but i think side lights are 501 bulbs.

If you are going through the hassle of changing a bulb i would just do the HID install.

Yeah, I didn't want to be drilling holes and finding places to fit the ballasts, Stef kindly put me onto a few places to get them, cost so far is £80 delivered, just waiting to see if I get charged any more for customs.
