It's my OH's 26th on the 17th Feburary and I'm completely and utterly at a loss what to buy him. I want to make it a 'special' present, so am possibly thinking of a short break away, somewhere or wouldn't mind going for a slap up meal in London somewhere (he lives there, which is a problem as he tends to know everywhere well and we've been most places before...!).
Alongside the 'minibreak' dilemma (He loves skiing, possible 3 day break in the alps? Although we both went a few weeks before christmas with friends - you can't tire of skiing though, can you!? ) I want to get him this wonderful present. He always makes my birthdays/christmas absolutely fantastic - seems to just KNOW what to get people and where to take them to make it some fabulously memorable experience.

Being as there's a high percentage of the males here - if it was YOUR 26th (which he's making a big deal out of, apparently he's old, now. His words ) and your doting OH was offering anything you wanted (Surprise hence why I can't ask him.) what would you have? (reasonably priced here!)

Hi Mimi!

I know this was a question for the fellas, but as far as mini breaks are concerned, Barcelona would be perfect for the two of you. (I went there a couple of times for short breaks with a past bf and it is one of his favourite places.) There is Gaudi's amazing architecture, including the Church of the Sacred Family, art galleries, a lovely park, some interesting shops. Above all else, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, and there are lovely cafes and restaurants that stay open very late, so you can enjoy a lovely romantic meal and drinks well into the small hours. If this sounds of interest I can email you details of some great hotels.

Other than that, a weekend away at a country hotel with a gym, spa, swimming pool could be fun too, with lots of relaxation and pampering.

I'm sure he'll love whatever you give him

And you could tie that in with some kind of weekend supercar hire - and drive there?

Those 'experience' type things are always very good.

However, skiing in the Alps sounds fan-bloody-tastic, I love skiing.

TBH you wont tire after 3 days. If anything 3 days isn't enough!

Happy Birthday Ben, today is my birthday too, such a shame it isn't my 19th!

Mimi, I asked Mr C_G what he would like, he said a weekend skiing would win hands down.

Second place for him was a sports car and a night/weekend away.

I've just come back from 6 days skiing in Courchevel.. awesome fun...

At this time of year, I think this would win hands down over other options..
