No - not what you were thinking.

I just don't like the heat generated by the engine compartment bulb, which comes on when the boot (front) is open (and I don't like the heat that generates, either). They are 10w bulbs.

Was considering replacing these with LEDs.

I know nothing about Canbus, I don't even know whether this has any relevance. Without sucking it and seeing, is replacing these non mission critical bulbs a straightforward affair?

I'm not sure it's one of the fault-reported bulbs (could be wrong) so errors wouldn't be a problem

I believe it's a 41mm bulb, based on a search for the part number.

Will whip one out tomorrow to confirm.

Wonder whether someone could advise re the original query.

30 seconds in and out, no problems at all. The frunk bulb is not current sensed for failure so any LED bulb will do. My 991 TTS uses any W5W fitting.

Is the LED bulb a different weight than the bulb being replaced? Could that adversely affect the weight distribution?

More concerned about the LED directionality of the photons emission, may cause the car to pull to one side

...having said that, if I drove with the bonnet open (so the light is on) the issues may be of a different order of magnitude...
