I had to do a 100 mile round trip this morning same journey at the same time and day of the year as I did last year.

It might just be me but weather conditions were the same but last year it seemed every other driver was on a mpg mission and crawling along

Today people seemed to be making more brisk progress and I wondered if it was the price of fuel dropping that meant people weren't trying to make every drop go as far as it could?

So poll answers

- Yes traffic is moving quicker
- Same
- No it's slower

Obviously no poll is complete without the comedy value MX-5 answer in place

I'm driving the same - dawdling at 60mph in Lane 1 and listening to bangin' toons on my way to The Orifice.

If it's twisty I'll proceed swiftly.

But I am shoving Super Unleaded/Diesel into the cars.

I've driven a few hundred miles on motorways and A1 roads in the past few days and haven't noticed any difference from a year ago - except for me driving

I've been trying to manoeuvre around operation stack for the last few days so nothing is moving - would love to get some speed up!

I haven't noticed any difference. Then again, I may not be especially observant.

Yes, with some caveats.

If you pay enough attention to fuel prices (if your on PH you probably do) and are a petrolhead, you are fairly likely to have celebrated with a slightly heavier right foot than normal.

If you pay some attention to fuel prices, but aren't really a petrolhead, your probably driving the same as you always did, but just feeling slightly more satisfied/ relaxed while doing so.

If (like most normal people), your knowledge of falling petrol prices is solely an item on the evening news/ radio/ different numbers on the big board outside the forecourt, you are also driving the same as you always did.

As a PHer who gets low 20s mpg on average, Im most certainly enjoying the full rev range a bit more, as are some like-minded friends/ colleagues!

I expect Lexus LSs in shed territory will be shifting slightly faster than usual this year....

cheap petrol doesnt make that 3 cylinder eco-battery hybrid any faster, however it does make my v8 faster. smile
