Are there any PHer's with experience in data base programs for web sites?

I need a kind sole that could set me up with a basic page that I could then work with
to expand etc.

Basically, this is what I want.

1) A news page that can be updated from a text box, rather than having to upload
the revised news htm pages every time.

2) A listings page that could either be updated in a similar way to the news page
or by members to upload their own info.

As some of you know I run a few TVR registers and I need to speed up a couple
of areas of these free services.

Here's hoping someone could help set me up with these.

Thanks in advance.

you mean like www.stefancarlton.net/index.php?menu=aboutme&type=music - I have a page in the background which lets me add an album or www.stefancarlton.net/index.php?menu=marlin&type=pitStop which is similar...

Hi Stefan.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Yes, that's the basic idea.

I'd also like people to be able to upload their information which I don't
think what you have there does?

For the register uploads, I did also want it to auto add for example a
unique code (members number) and also for people to also be able to run
a search on for example all 'yellow 4.2's etc.

Could this be easily done in a secure environment?

Graham,

Assuming this if for the TCR site, then you're running MS IIS which means this can be acheived quite easily with an Access database and a couple of ASP pages.

Security wise, it won't be 100% secure, if you want this you'll need to talk to your ISP and purchase an SSL certificate (ensures data passed between the browser and webserver - ie when you fill in a form and hit submit, it encrypted).

Hi Steve

Been a while, how's things?

The server that hosts the register has a secure section where I run an online store
for the band I manage. Would that be all I need?

Are Access database and ASP pages anything you could help with?

Thanks for the reply.

Graham,

Yep, can do. Drop me a mail with want you want.

The TVRCC-Northants site was cobbled together in with Access and ASP (since that was the technology availble).

Excellent, thanks Steve.

I'll put the ideas together and mail you a little later.

I hope to be at the next Northants meeting having missed a fair few due to work.

I think I have also missed out on all the Le Mans arrangements

Cheers

Yep, same here, plus I've kind of lost interest in the whole club thing...
