Yeah quite a few times (I'm a HGV. river)

The best ones come with a free sob story "oh you gotta help me out dere fella, me boys in de hospital and I just need a few gallons" was the best.

I just say "I don't think so"

Yes.

I used to do nights out in my previous job [HGV] and got asked but declined generous offers of defrauding

my employers.

So they try their luck more with people who have fuel cards

Makes sense I guess

Must work or they wouldn't do it

That's unfair. iva isn't council just because someone asked him for diesel!

Gatwick airport McDonalds, next to the BP station...Just dropped my wife off at the airport. I'm bang out of petrol and I've left my cash in my other trousers. Couldn't spare a tenner, could you?

If you mince a bit and sound gay and say Yes, I'll see you in the toilet but I want something in return, they usually disappear in a cloud of dust...hehe

There's a lad in another McDonalds car park who wants the fare to Scotland because his mum's died. His mum's not having much luck, she died loads of times last year....smile

I'd be tempted to say your in luck, just heading there now

Knowing my luck he'd be telling the truth and I'd get stuck with him!

I work opposite a Shell garage, there used to be a young woman who was a regular at doing this, her partner would park his st heap camper round the corner, just out of view; I've not seen her for a while.

I had a rather bizarre occurrence last night with a rather large gent of African origin who bought something i had for sale on Gumtree. Bearing in mind we'd agreed the price via email before he left, he advised me he was on his way at 7pm from London! hehe I'm in Poole! He arrived at 10:30pm and proceeded to try and renegotiate not only the agreed price but also me to give him some petrol money to get home again, seriously, it was rather strange, i was half expecting to be kidnapped biggrin needless to say after i blew my stack and told him to leave he had a sudden change of heart, paid the agreed price and got no petrol money, cheeky fker!

Don't errrr "travellers" always ask for a tenner back for fuel when they purchase a car; for luck or something?

Found that in commercials a lot, especially when getting rid of sheddy px's. Also £20 good luck money, or dinner money, fuel money. I normally start by adding £100 to the price of the vehicle as soon as they ask.

Similar thing happened to me. Sold my 17 year old BMW 528 on eBay for £535 (second highest bid). Buyer was coming down from Manchester. When they turned up, they revved the engine a bit, then started complaining about the paint work, saying it wasn't perfect (it wouldn't be...it was 17 years old!). Offered me £300. Told them it was £500 or nothing, they said they would pop to the cash point and come back. I didn't expect them to come back, but strangely they did.

I triple checked the money.

Seemed a bit odd, 500 mile round trip for a £500 car.

One day whilst filling up the JCB forklift on the farm, a long wheel base shogun arrived next to me and asked if he could get a tenners worth of diesel so he could make the next petrol station. When I told him to try and get rid that I only had red diesel so no he couldn't. He said that doesn't matter it goes just as well on red!
