I wondered if any of my fellow Macan S owners here on PH can help?

I have a Macan S petrol and I specified the 75 litre fuel tank as it was a NCO. I've filled it up a few times now, each time from empty according to the gauge. If there is less than 10 miles left, the gauge shows `---- Miles` On each fill up I've never managed to get anywhere near 75 litres in it, the most being a tad under 65 litres despite it showing empty.

Porsche says that the fuel tank capacity/reserve should be 75/10 litres. So, am I right in thinking that at empty on the gauge, the car is only just entering the reserve level and there could be approx. 10 litres left?

I came from a diesel with a 90 litre tank which had a 600 mile range and I hate filling up at the best of times! frown

Does anyone else know what they getting into the tank on fill ups...?

once the gauge hits zero you should have a 'calculated' 10L left In the tank to avoid damage.

in theory you should be able to stick around 63l per station stop assuming you run the car to almost being empty (as in , according to the gauge and not running the actual tank dry).

what you are seeing sounds abou right to me, could do with a Porsche tech to confirm my understanding.

Be brave, drive til it runs out and tell us how far you got and how many litres used. PH is such a big family that one of us will surely pass you and offer you a lift to the next station.

Thanks Carl, my OPC can`t confirm this over the phone, but have offered to take the car in and check it over. They did confirm that the factory build sheet shows that its fitted with the 75 litre tank, so I guess it should be as we think...

I guess that I am just going to have to get used to a range of about 400 miles, depending on the weight of my right boot! wink

Many thanks thumbup

That's what I do, but I carry a 5 litre can with me.

On a related note, a pet hate is cars that only show a "remaining range" figure until it gets below, say, 30 miles, then it just says "refuel now" - if there's a time I need to know the remaining range more accurately, it's when it's getting near empty banghead
