Hello - 2014 Range Rover Sport & 2014 Defender 110

Hello everyone!

My name is Chris and I'm 15. I'm a massive car fan so I thought this site would be a great place to join! Obviously due to my age I cannot drive legally yet but I dream about my first car and look after my parents cars as if they are my own.

Here are some pictures of my dads two Land Rovers!

The RRS which is coming up for a year old now...



And the new Defender collected last Saturday...

I'm sure the Defender will get muddy at some point, and the RRS was absolutely disgusting until last weekend when I had some time to clean it up! I look after my mums car too, it's only a little Peugeot 207 but it's much easier to clean.

Yes I've decided what car I'd like, and from speaking to my dad I think he's given it the green light! I would love a MK3 Ford Focus 1.0T Ecoboost 125ps Zetec (or even better, a Titanium) in Candy Red with the Appearance Pack! It would stay pretty standard apart from a few accessories such as Mudflaps and maybe an ST spoiler.

As you can see I'm a massive car fan so this seems like the place to be!

I'm probably in a minority but I'd rather have a Landcruiser than a Defender if I'm honest.

Thanks, and I suppose it's down to each individuals taste! We got one as my dad kept using the RR to cart wood and muddy stuff around, so it was always filthy, and it's now one of the last chances to own a brand new Defender! The Defender is a nice car but by no means refined. But that's part of the character!

We plan on keeping it for a long time, whereas the RR gets changed every 2 years or so.

If you are keeping the defender long term get down and look in below the wheel arches.You will see a thin coat of beige primer. The disgraceful lack of stonechip/wax oil is beyond a joke in the 21st century. Its not exactly the weather for it but you really need to get it steam cleaned and treated and it will put years on its life. Defenders love to corrode like nobodys business.

This is one of the things that has always irritated me about LR and Defenders. They have a world-beating brand and yet they can't make Defenders reliable, comfortable, and a bit more refined !! It's like those Opus Dei people who believe that self flagellation is meritorious of its own accord.

But I think that's the whole point of the defender. I agree about the rust proofing etc but that can be sorted, and they will become an investment in some way as values are predicted to hold well.

This one will be used as it should, going through muddy fields and transporting cargo around. Not many want one for luxury! I do think you have to be an LR fan though to have one! We've have lots of people waving at us, don't get that in the Range Rover.

As I said we have the Range Rover for luxury so the Defenders refinement isn't an issue.
