Parking at Stanstead Airport

Has anyone done this? Is it secure? We are going to Milan for the weekend and because our flights are very early and very late, driving seems the simplest option but I am worried about security. Thanks.

They are busy round the clock but i don't think they are patrolled

Thanks apache - may have to rethink. Not sure I like the idea of leaving it in an unpatrolled car park!

I work at Stansted Airport, or that is where my base is.

The Car parks here are very secure. They are one of the most secure areas in the Airport, with lots off CCTV ant patrols. This is due to the area's the airport use to build the carparks are usually on the final approach for the Runway, a good area to launch a Surface to Air weapon and so on.

You car will be fine, I have left the Cerbera many times with no trouble at all.

I also work from Stansted occasionally and can vouch for the security.

Better still I live about 9 miles away with space on my drive. Free parking if you want and I'll even see to it that your car is started every few days (my wife is a dab hand at this with my Chimaera).

I often leave the Chim there... no problems... just pick your car parking space wisely to avoid dents..

Thank you very much Flintstone. Unfortunately our flights are at silly times (0600 out and 2300 in) so we would still have to get to the airport from your place in the middle of the night! Thanks for the offer though.

As your only away for the weekend, go for the Mid-stay one. Its the newest carpark and Very secure. Best to book on line.

I've parked my Cerbera at Stanstead on quite a few occasions over the last 2 years, both in short and medium stay carparks. Not had any problems to date.

Hi- i did this last week in the range rover--very safe! as u can only go in and out on of the car parks with your credit cards anyway- {well in the mid-stay} as for anyone marking the car that could happen anywhere -!

Cheaper paying at the Long Stay gate.

£21.60 for 3 days vs £28.50 in the Mid Stay.

Sorry to butt in on this thread and go off on a bit of a tangent but I was interested to see that you are off to Milan for a weekend.....I'm looking at taking my family at February half-term (we love Italy and I have a fashion / shopping mad 12 year old daughter!). I'd be interested to hear what you do there and enjoy about Milan...have you sourced a 'good' hotel yet (I don't mean a business type place!!). Safe journey and enjoy your break.

I use BCP car parks they are off the airport at bishop stortford football club . they park the car in a secure car park on their ground. plus they drop you off and pick you up. used them many times.

Went to Verona in October / November last year. And then spent the last day in Milan.
I preferred Verona as a city.
But it goes without saying the architecture was fantastic in both places.
Shopping too was excellent in both places,
but Milan certainly was brilliant for clothes shopping (and not as expensive as Britain). Most of the clothes I now own are from there.

On the several occassions I have flown from Stansted, I have noticed some nice cars in the (short stay) car park. Including a Tuscan and Cerbera etc...
