So we had the old school appreciation threads and all - but surely there must have been tracks released the past couple of years that give you the same kind of buzz?

My humble submission to start with would be Motorcycle 'As The Rush Comes' - quite laidback and moody for a trance anthem with the haunting vocals being an integral and leading part instead of the current trance of 'slap some generic vocal lines on an instrumental house track to make it more catchy'.

The more I hear it, the more it gets to me much in the way the old classics do - but then again it could be my current mood which is definitely, er, moody...

The original version of the Shapeshifters - Lolas Theme is possibly the best dance track to have been released recently. That and the Thin White Duke remix of Silver Screen, Shower Scene.

However, Father Christmas, the very nice man that he is, brought me the new Chemical Brothers album for Christmas.

Theres a track on there called Surface to Air which is quite simply, and I cannot over state this enough, absolutely bloody epic.

I cant wait until Glasto 2005 to hear it live.

Stunning tune. I submit for consideration (although not the same sort of style) Racing Green by High Contrast which is about the bounciest, happiest Drum & Bass you will ever hear. There is also a great tune by Evil 9 but the name escapes me.

Not too new but from (I think) about March time 2002:

The Legacy by PUSH.

Stunning progressive tune, stunning!

A few tunes that have tickled my fancy over the past 2 years include Hoxton Whores (Jump 2004), Kalinda and Love Story.

Which reminds, it's time to invest in some new vinyl...

Is that the one that goes: "We don't like it when the city lights are fading, when the city lights are fading and we can't get down"?

I'll have to get hold of that D&B tune and the Chemicals album

I have though, finally fixed my computer so if I get chance before then I'll bung it in the same envelope as the Orbital mind bender we were at...

Yeah, that's the one, I think it's called crooked.

The Plump DJ's album was a real winner this year as well.

There's another tune I had a bit of a 'moment' to that I keep hearing. It involves a piano and a big violin build-up. The piano bit's a bit naff but the strings are excellent.

I notice the Soul Central version of Strings Of Life has been rolled out over the Christmas period.

Could be this?

A couple of nice euphoric tunes are: Solar Coaster by Solar Stone, Secret Garden by Ortz and Friends by Tilmann Urmacher.

A really good old-ish Trance tune is Red Sun Rising by Lost Witness.

Adam White - Ballerina
as on for example the most recent Slinky album

I'd given up on trance for a while but this song is stunning

There's an amazing remix of 'these boots were made for walking' by Nancy Sinatra around at the moment, I heard it on NYE and have been banging on about it since.

Tried and failed to get a copy of it but you can listen to a preview here.

here

(look for the listen button)

That was the last new record I heard which truely touched me.
