I want to polish my windscreen glass to remove light scratches, either myself or preferably have an expert do this. The car is a 246GT Dino and it has the original screen which after 40+ years has some wear and tear but I am keen to keep it as it is the original screen with the manufacturers etchings. Is this even possible?

Hello Simon. Yes this is possible to a certain extent and something I have done on a number of vehicles.

I use a Carpro product - this one

I asked the same question on here and a glass expert responded saying that polishing causes distortions even if carried out by a professional, and is a very time consuming process so not normally economical- more economical to fit a new screen.

That was on a 5-series though, an OEM Ferrari windscreen probably won't be four hundred quid...

It is possible to create a "lensing" effect through uneven polishing. The trick is to do several light passes across the whole screen to gradually remove the scratches rather than concentrating your efforts on any one particular area.

I tested the products and technique on my own 42 year old Scimitar before doing it on any clients' cars and remain pleased with the results .
