Just had my V11 through a couple week ago, showing

6 months £145.75
12 months £265.00
Monthly £278.25

Im looking to sell the car soon as possible but i need to re-tax it first.

Am i right in saying if i opt for the monthly tax (as im selling it soon hopefully in less than 2 months time) i could cancel the direct debit without and repercussions? The monthly fee is £23 which for 6 months is £139! Cheaper than paying 6 months up front!.

Advice pls.

Do the govt want to get everyone paying monthly

Then they can increase it by only £5 a month which everyone will just accept

Yes seems so, for me anyway.

But the question, can you cancel the direct debit at any time and then that will void the tax. Or do you have to go through some special form or something to cancel the tax early then get a early cancellation fee or something?

Cannot find this information out anywhere!
