cyclist road hogging
Discussion
Surely these pansies should be riding single file on a relatively narrow country lane instead of pretending they are on some time trial for the world championships or whatever?
As and when I got chance to pass safely I did so giving the lycra boys plenty of room just in case one of them farted.

No wonder cyclists are the scourge of the road - completely spoiled my potential hoon by having to slow down for them

I have to agree with you.
If they have so little consideration for other road users how the f
k can they expect other road users to have much time for them?
To adopt a phrase from a certain TV show I now call them bike-w*****s.
And yes I do have a bike but I never take part in rolling road-blocks! (Don't do the Lycra gear either).

I know nothing about cycling what so ever
I always assumed that was to stop numpties overtaking them (if they were single file), getting half way then realising there was a lorry coming and then having nowhere to go and squeezing the cyclist into the kerb / drains which probably isn't fun on a racer style bike when doing 30 or so

Bunched up makes it easier to overtake, unfortunately a minority of motorists are too dumb to realise this.
Oh I'm sorry to be so dumb, I was just kinda thinking of the highway code and the law. Unfortunately a minority of cyclists are too dumb to read this.Heres rule 66
66
You should
keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear
keep both feet on the pedals
never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends
not ride close behind another vehicle
not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangled up with your wheels or chain
be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one. It is recommended that a bell be fitted.

You mean like the highway code says drivers must never break the speed limit? Heres rule 66

Seriously though, what exactly is the complaint. As a driver, I'd far rather they rode like that than rode in single file. Makes overtaking much easier. You should never overtake a cyclist encroaching into their lane anyway, so they're actually taking up about the least useful road space possible.
As a "lycra loonie" as someone posted below; if they're 3 abreast then that's naughty, if they were 2 abreast then that's ok.
As a car driver i'd prefer to be on the wrong side of the carriageway for half the time than if they were single file.
Out of interest what does the book say about using a camera / camera phine when about to overtake a group of cyclists?
