Saw my first in the flesh today on the road - alloys look great (not keen on the bumper graphics personally would like it without).
What a rare as hens teeth car with 360bhp rwd and crazy high mpg.
(This example was just cruising on the M way so didn't have the chance to see if what he could pull on a little run.
If money would have it the ideal real world car - but its ££ more than a 535d and used well what used examples anywhere those lucky owners are keeping them
.
Drawback - cold start up isn't a nice noise and you'd never rev it in neutral for the enjoyment of the engine noise. However close the door you'd not hear the engine and then foot moderately down and most cars are in your dust - foot flat down very very few cars are quicker.

Have a look for D3's I think there are two for sale but they aren't cheap, the OH loves her D3, start up from cold is a bit rough but as a daily driver it's great fast fuel efficient & quick also ours has the diff fitted which can mean drifts are just a gentle squeeze away it's a great steer I really can't fault it apart from the fact that there are to many pointless suspension modes, Alpina have given us the optimum setting. I took it to Newcastle I found it to be fast infact very fast gave a E92 335i driver nightmares. It's performance puts my re mapped CLK320cdi feel slow. What a rare as hens teeth car with 360bhp rwd and crazy high mpg.

The M3 as I have said has been a disappointment(lack of engine note when standard not feeling that special) & I won't be upset in seeing it go tomorrow afternoon & when the Granturismo goes in March what I'd really like to buy is a Mercedes CL with the 4.0 BiTurbo V8 Diesel under the bonnet but I'll have to settle 5.5 BiTurbo version instead

Reading up on the M550d 384bhp standard these rap to nearly 500bhp.... Brutally fast.
Do they sell the 550d in the UK?They do sell the X550Md though and also in the X6 format. There are 2 X6 versions of the 550d near to where I live (see them when out on walk with the kids)
