I’ve decided that I want one, but it must be “Office” friendly as with a new season of company software releases upon me I know I am going to spending far too much time in the office (large empty floor area) either very late or early with nothing to do but wait for someone to say yeah or ney.

So recommendations appreciated – I’m ok with building it and would prefer a kit so I can update and fix parts etc.

I know that Tamiya do a large number of these, are they the best? If not who is? Is there a good all-rounder chassis that will take large number of bodies? Motor and battery recommendations appreciated anything basically that will put me on the right track

Cheers

Paul

p.s was initially thinking of spending irc £200 -£300 is that enough?

Tamiya probably best choice for a 'toy'

Roop's yer man though, he is the veritable font of RC knowledge.

Santa (aka the Girlfriend!) brought me a cracking Scarlet Enzo!

It's a NIKKO one and came mostly pre-assembled. It's probably not as "Serious" as the Tamayia stuff, but great fun and fair shifts

okay so not a car, but I got a great RC fork lift truck in the play.com web site sale, only £35 and is great fun, the forks go up and down and tilt back and forth. Excellent stuff.

I think my mini GT-Four is Tamiya.

'Race' spec engine. No reverse. 4wd. Kills a 1600mv/hr battery in about 4 minutes.

Yes, I think it is a toy that I'm after I don't want to get too serious and spend huge amounts.

I knew there was at least one expert on here thanks for reminding me, in fact looking at Roops site I think I want a touring car Merc (Warstiener sponsership).

Cheers

I hope your office space is very big! trust me some of these 'models' can get up to silly speeds! if your sticking to indoor with it you may be better off getting some of these new fangled 1/18th scale cars, still a good fun missile but a lot less likely to take someones ankles off in a high speed collision as they are a lot lighter.

My first car was a Tamiya falcon buggy about 16 years ago, i modified it with a new motor, then placed an Astra GTE shell on it then i moved onto 4 wheel drive with a Nikko, it was belt brive with adjustable slipper clutch and modified motor as standard. That progressed onto a 1/8th scale nitro buggy which was very very fast that now belongs to my brother who still has it after 5 years after he drove it into a kerb at a high velocity

I now have a HPi Savage with a Truckzilla conversion and big block .46 motor barrels of fun for bashing about but to make the most of it you need an area the size of a football pitch to get the most out of the speed of the thing

What could start as a toy will turn into a very serious hobby if your not carefull and whatever you buy will soon be traded in for something better/faster
