When something like that gets posted on the facebook, the very first thing I do is check it's veracity before forwarding it on so I don't come across as a gullible muppet that just forwards any old story regardless of it's authenticity.

So to answer your question; what you are supposed to do is use google for a few seconds and check to see if it's true and/or current.
