Adam, if I were you I'd insure them mate. It shouldn't cost that much. Gearboxes are pretty tough and unlikely to break, they are hard to steal as it doesn't fit in the pocket, so low premium I'd say. Judging by how much the one in the auction sold for, you could be sitting on a fortune.
