Should I come back?..swapping from Boxster S

Hi folks,

Had a Chimera about 12 years ago and loved it, and have always had an urge to get one again. Another itch to scratch was the Boxster S which I currently have. Is a fab car and have spent quite a bit on getting it sorted, but don't really have much chance to use it and starting to think I would like to listen to that V8 rumble again in the limited time I get to go out. My Boxster is worth about 12k, maybe more once the weather picks up, will this give me enough budget to get a decent Chim?

£12k buys a very nice Chimaera, buying on condition rather than age these days, a lot of sorted older cars will be in better condition than some newer cars due to a lot of chassis work being done.
You just can't compare the Boxster with the TVR, I currently have a (in my opinion) sorted Chimaera and run a 2.7 Boxster as my daily and the Pork is currently costing me more in running costs and is dull in comparason, but then if my current plans work out I'm selling both and getting into something even dafter.

Thanks chaps, looks like it is doable then. I'm in SW London area (Twickenham) are there any nearby specialists for an inspection as the biggest fear would be getting one with a raft of issues to sort out. I have just forked out 5k to get the Boxster sorted, so have some experience there! Any anyone fancying a swap would be very welcome!

Elmswood TVR in Tolworth are pretty close to you - they are behind a Jet station but don't let that put you off.

Oddly enough there's a 'probate' chim for sale in Sutton at the moment for £6k. I'm assuming it needs some work but Elmswood could help with that.

Alternatively, Phazed's old 4.6 is still lurking around the various online selling pages (carandclassic I think atm). Nothing wrong with the car, properly sorted. The guy is asking £14k having bought for just below £10k which is pretty well known fact so I think that's the reason it hasn't sold. Phazed sorted the car the new owner has done little or nothing.

Why did you need to spend all that money on the Porsche ? i thought they are engineered to perfection .

new clutch, replacement gearbox, pads and discs all round, tyres all round, very large service, IMS seal, RMS seal plus more - it all adds up rather quickly...

I had a new Boxter S on test for 24 hours about four years ago, really loved it but at £43K at the time it was about £35K too much brilliant car though!

agreed, it is the best handling car I have ever driven, pretty damn quick and very comfortable with it - just begs for corners and empty roads, neither of which I have much access to!
