Hi Simon,
Yep know all about it, bloody frustrating, I operate my domain name through a remote server and I have just renewed my subscription for another two years on the name from Nominet, although it is showing all paid up in advance it hasn't kicked the mail delivery automatically.

It should be back online any time now mate.

Thanks

You may already be aware of this, but there are a number of companies who look for expiring domain names, and then contact the owners and ask for anything up to £100 to re-register the name for them. As you are no doubt aware, reputable companies only charge around £18 for a .com name for a couple of years and and less than a fiver for a .co.uk.

The particular company that I am thinking of (and who contacted me after I had reregistered) operates out of Cambridge and is currently being investigated by the Office of Fair Trading and the local Trading Standards Office. However, a prosecution may not be possible, and technically they are doing nothing wrong. Bit like spammers I suppose.

Hi Pietro!

Thanks for that info, I have used a website design company owned by a friend of mine for the last four years so everything should be O.K.

I hope!

Pietro

Could you mail me through my profile with your recommendations for a reputable supplier of a .com domain? I am looking into this, but would rather go with a recommendation.
Cheers,
Paul
