contemplating an AM approved car which has had 2 owners, and which dealer proudly states that they have changed the clutch, as well as front tyres.

while it is nice to have a new clutch, it makes me wonder whether the car has been 'abused'.

main reason is I doubt any AM dealer would replace clutch unless it was well and truly knackered.

Depends on the age of the car, which clutch, which engine. Some have been replaced at low mileage due to faults.

+1

Also, it's not uncommon. These things can go at anytime given the age of these cars regardless of miles.

I agree with the guys a replacement clutch isn't really an issue, nice to know it has a nice new clutch just fitted rather than buy one that appears ok and goes a few thousand miles later wink anyway, overall condition and service/history will tell you if the car has been abused.

It is pleasing when the salesman prints out the entire service history, and only on time servicing and minor items appear.

I can understand your concern, but it may not be possible to find the reason. You could try posting the colour and regstation, just in case anyone here knows anything about the car.

It could be as simple as, the previous owner had to reverse up a slope frequently, perhaps into a garage.

New front tyres at 15,000 miles. Note to self - need to corner faster.

Not if it's under warranty = factory funded + margin for dealer wink
