Vxr8 first month happy but couple of issues
Discussion
Had the car a month now really can't stop smiling.
Couple of glitches so far
The air con was working when it wanted the ac on display was coming on then switching off seemed to be on whilst stationary/slow and off at speed ? Possibly to cold to operate?? Stupid maybe. But now ac off all the time. Is showing.
Have a clonking noise. Difficult to discribe as I can't make it happen but slow speeds -10mph seem to get a rotational clunking noise. Not to bad but enough to make me listen for it possibly rear of car but it's one that's not loud enough to hear. Having 4 wheel alinment tomorrow as I have eaten then rear tyres so wondering what to look for whilst up?
Finally does anyone know the paint code for a heron white ?
Very finally. Watch out for the new audi 3.0 tdi bi turbo 320bhp very quick car enough to show you up if your not paying attention.
Thanks.
Jason

Watch "Holden VE / VXR8 failing diff" on YouTube - Holden VE / VXR8 failing diff: http://youtu.be/sYjwE2AzGSc
You could have the a/c checked, to see if there is sufficient gas in it. If the pressure was low, then it could have been intermittent, and if it's then got lower, it would cause it to fail completely.
Alternatively, these cars don't like the cold, so it could just be a fault that will clear as the temperature rises.
As for the paint code, it's on the plate on the nearside front wing (I think), in the engine bay. I can have a look on ours, if you can't find it.

If the aircon doesn't come on at all (when the temp isn't freezing), check the belt is still on. As mentioned if the pressure is low or even if the battery is on its way out, the aircon wont operate.
For the clunking is it when driven in a straight line, or turning? It might be as simple as the brake pad caliper pins worn and the pads rattling if it sounds "rotational".

Heron white code is 679f, My diff went and could feel it as well as hear it, mine only did it around corners which I believe is the spider gears but if it's clunking every few feet going straight it could be the ring and pinion gears,, other than the diff it could be the u joint on the propshaft, the rubber couplings either end of the shaft or the retaining bolts in them

Me too mate does anyone know a way of checking ? Although I don't think it is. Will have a good look tomorrow hoping it's something simple
Thanks
If its the diff it can be expensive , did you buy private or trade ? If its trade check the toilet roll warranty you could save a fortune Thanks
Car was brought from Elite so would think the warrantee is actually ok? Any experiences?
Had the car up on the ramp and had a good play with the diff spinning wheels etc couldn't get it to replicate the noises foxdie was getting so that was good. Had a good play with the drive shafts also and no irregular play.
Had new tyres fitted and the passenger side nuts was loose only finger tight so hoping that could be something. Now all correctly tourqued up haven't heard any noise although it was only 3 miles to home
Still no joy with ac will book in for a gas charge.
Thanks all so far

If its clonking and you cant find any issues with the dif or the drive shafts then I would imagine that the front control arms are the place to start looking. Can be quite hard to identify the source of the noise when you are in the car and driving it to may well not be the rear of the car at all.Had the car up on the ramp and had a good play with the diff spinning wheels etc couldn't get it to replicate the noises foxdie was getting so that was good.
