Sky HD box issues - sound

We've had sky TV for 6-7 years now (love it the sports movies etc and really happy with customer service).

Problem.
For about the last year I've been having sound issues on BBC 1 HD - strictly recorded stuff.
Programmes impacted that I'm aware of
1. Top gear
2. strictly (though not the commentary only the dancing and music)
3. six nations cuts in and out loads of times every ten seconds infuriating
4. Wimbledon
5. The Voice
Not Eastenders.
Now of late CBeebies "topsy and tim (only the theme tube) breaking up.

Every other HD channel is fine every time, I've recorded shows in tandem SD and HD the SD has no issues ever.

We run the sky box via a very good HDMI directly to the TV and also an optical out to a 5.1 surround sound - regardless which you watch it on when its breaking up sound neither solve it.

Any ideas? sky help centre have never had this issue before its odd as if its to do with HD channels as in all of then they understand that but just one!




Edit. Top gear last night had lots of sound issues so recorded it on BBC 2 tonight - issues are there too.

When you say sound issues do you mean where it cuts out for a second? Mine does exactly the same but almost only on BBC recorded stuff, it does also do it on BBC iPlayer stuff that I download on the Sky box too.

With other channels the only thing that happens is the sound and picture go out of sync but just rewinding for a second sorts that. Mainly HD stuff though so I always put it down to being on the limit of the data the box can handle.

Mine is probably about the same age as yours.

On and off sound. Take strictly it could cut in and out for the entire show every 2 seconds infuriating.

Yeah mine does same, only noticed it when stuff starts but I guess that's when the music plays and Strictly has music all the way through it, never actually recorded Strictly though so wouldn't have noticed.

Had the same problem. Sky recommends a software update.

Did the above yesterday and all the recodings I've tried that had problems with the sound seem to work now.

Cheers - trying this out now.

Hopefully it works as the Mrs was hacked off it was only her shows which were ruined - then Top Gear comes back and I instantly want to sort it out...
